To investigate such a topic, a literature study is conducted in three main areas, namely production planning in the process industry, Lean Production, and Industry 4.0. Based on the findings from the literature review, a conceptual framework is developed to illustrate the ability of Internet of Things, Big Data Analytics, and the further integration of IT systems to provide increased reliability for materials, processes, equipment, and forecasts that improves the utilization of Heijunka (production levelling) practices in the process industry. %G English %Z TC 5 %Z WG 5.7 %2 https://inria.hal.science/hal-04030355/document %2 https://inria.hal.science/hal-04030355/file/509923_1_En_77_Chapter.pdf %L hal-04030355 %U https://inria.hal.science/hal-04030355 %~ IFIP %~ IFIP-AICT %~ IFIP-TC %~ IFIP-TC5 %~ IFIP-WG %~ IFIP-APMS %~ IFIP-WG5-7 %~ IFIP-AICT-630
