This allows to match the particular application needs to the most suitable infrastructure provider. The agent-based federation approach utilizes WireGuard and GRE to deliver a flexible and transparent layer 2 or layer 3 overlay network, while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality. The evaluation shows that our prototype can be deployed to arbitrary cloud platforms and benefits from a low traffic and processing overhead. %G English %Z TC 6 %Z WG 6.1 %2 https://inria.hal.science/hal-03384865/document %2 https://inria.hal.science/hal-03384865/file/509420_1_En_2_Chapter.pdf %L hal-03384865 %U https://inria.hal.science/hal-03384865 %~ IFIP-LNCS %~ IFIP %~ IFIP-TC %~ IFIP-WG %~ IFIP-TC6 %~ IFIP-WG6-1 %~ IFIP-DAIS %~ IFIP-LNCS-12718
