In this paper, we argue that using two distinct metrics, one relating to minimum time and the other relating to average time can be advantageous. Both metrics have a lot of support from theoretical and empirical perspectives. We also give two examples, one in a controlled experiment and the other in a field study of pointing, where making the minimum versus average distinction is fruitful. %G English %Z TC 13 %2 https://inria.hal.science/hal-01717202/document %2 https://inria.hal.science/hal-01717202/file/421764_1_En_36_Chapter.pdf %L hal-01717202 %U https://inria.hal.science/hal-01717202 %~ INSTITUT-TELECOM %~ CNRS %~ INRIA %~ UNIV-PSUD %~ ENST %~ INRIA-SACLAY %~ TELECOM-PARISTECH %~ PARISTECH %~ INRIA_TEST %~ TESTALAIN1 %~ UMR8623 %~ IFIP-LNCS %~ IFIP %~ CENTRALESUPELEC %~ INRIA2 %~ LRI-HCC %~ IFIP-TC13 %~ UNIV-PSUD-SACLAY %~ INRIA-SACLAY-2015 %~ TELECOM-PARISTECH-SACLAY %~ CENTRALESUPELEC-SACLAY %~ IFIP-INTERACT %~ INRIA2017 %~ IFIP-LNCS-10515 %~ LTCI %~ COMELEC %~ INFRES %~ COMNUM %~ DIVA %~ INSTITUTS-TELECOM %~ LISN %~ GS-ENGINEERING %~ GS-COMPUTER-SCIENCE %~ LISN-EX-SITU
